Committee meeting: Wed 2nd July 7.30pm at Hereford Rowing Club.
All members welcome.
Note: E = elevenses L = lunch
T = tea (See Audax UK
handbook for Audax info.)
We are pleased to extend a warm welcome to the following new members: Ben
Adcocks, Benjamin Andrews, Simon Bremner, Paul Brooks, Peter Crowther, John
Duggan, Paul Evans, Nicola Goodwin, Nigel Holden, Ewan Holland, Debbie Meredith,
James Mills, Les Morris, Paul Morris, Bryn North, Emily Palmer, Jason Palmer and
Mark Watkins. The committee is also
pleased to announce that our former president Adrian Pudsey has agreed to become
an Honorary Life Member of the club.
A big thank you is due to all those keen members who came along to help with
this year's Come-and-Try-It time trial at Allensmore, making it a success
one again. 58 keen riders all got
round within the hour, nearly half taking under 35 minutes. Many enjoyed the experience so much that they promptly joined
the club so that they could take part in the rest of the season's events.
Fastest overall was Kevin May (25min 52sec), fastest novice was Ewan
Holland (29min 18sec), best lady was Sharon Colley (30min 11sec), youngest was
James Hudson, 14 (30min 13sec) and the oldest was our own David Newman, 82
(53min 44sec).
On Sunday 27th July there will be a 30~45 mile afternoon touring run for those
who might like a more relaxed,
sociable ride, but who don't want to start out in the morning or ride all day.
Do you have family members, friends, colleagues or neighbours who, although not
particularly interested in club or competitive cycling, are nevertheless
attracted by the convenience and health benefits using a bicycle, perhaps just
for local journeys or around town? Do
they lack the confidence to just go for it?
Are they deterred by traffic or their lack of recent cycling experience?
Two bits of good news for them! Herefordshire
Council offers professional one-to-one adult cycle training with experienced CTC
instructors (male and female) and secondly, for a limited period, this is free!
