Turbo Training

The Wheelers turbo training will be making a return from Thursday 5th October. The sessions will include Spin Sets, Strength Sets, Vo2 Max sets and Threshold / Sweet Spot sets. These are based off your FTP tests which happen periodically through the winter turbo so none of the percieved efforts will be beyond your capabilities as it is all based on your own personal numbers. If you dont have a turbo that gives you a wattage output reading then the wheelers do have communal Tacx Flow turbos for you to borrow so there truly is no reason to not join this social group to have a chat, laugh and catchup whilst putting in a structured winter season of training. There will be Tea / Coffee and biscuits avaliable afterwards and if anyone fancies Strenghthening and Stretching exercises. So from October 5th please come and join us, doors open at 6:45 for the session to start at 7:15 at Sutton St. Nicolas village hall HR1 3ZS

Our Background

The Hereford and District Wheelers Cycling Club was founded in 1928 and has flourished continuously since then. We have approaching 200 members (men and women) at present, most of whom are active cyclists, ranging from juniors to riders in their seventies. For racing cyclists we run a full programme of club time trials and each week, during the winter, we have a choice of training rides, and weekly turbo sessions. All overseen by experienced riders. Download our Club Handbook for Club Rules, Club Awards and Trophies, CCT Regulations and full Club TT Course Descriptions.

We organise Sunday touring runs throughout the year and other rides are held on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Even if you prefer riding on your own, or just with your own family or friends, there is a vast fund of know-how and experience available to you when you join this club: advice on everything from choosing a suitable bike or setting the easiest riding position, to learning the quick easy way to mend a puncture or buying or selling second-hand bikes and equipment.

You will also be able to keep in touch with what is happening in the world of cycling locally or nationally. The Hereford Wheelers issue a quarterly magazine called The Wheeler which is emailed to all members and published on the Website and the Cycling UK provides an excellent national magazine for its members.

However, many people find that cycle touring is even more enjoyable (and easier!) in company, which is of course the main thing a club has to offer. Improve your riding skills and discover how much more easily the miles roll by when you ride in a group. Find the quietest and most picturesque lanes, the most welcoming and best value refreshment stops and learn at first hand the hints and tips that can take some of the occasional hassles out of cycling. Cycling is about having fun, so come along and join in!
